Respond to delays, defects and disputes
Start with the contract and evidence, state the outcome sought, and escalate according to the issue rather than threatening a forum too early.

Choose the next route
Depending on the parties and issue, options may include direct negotiation, CASE assistance, mediation, the Small Claims Tribunals or court proceedings. Eligibility, time limits, remedies and costs differ. Check the current rules and seek legal advice when unsure.
Escalate urgent risks
For immediate safety, structural, electrical, water or fire concerns, contact the relevant qualified person, authority or emergency service. Preserve records, but do not delay urgent safety action for documentation.
