Lesson 13 of 15 · Building
Review milestones before payment
AssureShield helps organise the record. It does not hold funds, approve work or decide whether payment is legally due.
Define what the milestone means
A useful milestone names the work, location, completion standard, evidence and any inspection or sign-off required under the contract.
Review the request
- Match the invoice to the contract stage
- Check approved variations
- Record incomplete or disputed items
- Obtain required professional or authority confirmation
- Keep proof of payment
Know the platform boundary
Pay the contractor through the method agreed between you. AssureShield does not receive, safeguard, release or insure renovation funds. Seek advice before withholding, deducting or making a disputed payment.
Before you move on
- Invoice matched to contract
- Variations reconciled
- Open items written down
- Payment proof retained
